    The True Shepherd!

Ezekiel 34 is what I read this morning. I had asked where to read today and I was drawn to it. In my bible the title is: Irresponsible Shepherds. a little while into the scripture and there is a subtitle: God, The True Shepherd. In verse 6 it says: “My sheep wandered through all the mountains, and on every high hill; yes, My flock was scattered over the whole earth, and no one was seeking or searching for them.” Because of this the Lord addresses the shepherds and it is good for us to hear what He said as well: verse 10 Thus says the Lord God: “Behold, I am against the shepherds, and I will require My flock at their hand; I will cause them to cease feeding the sheep; and the shepherds shall feed themselves no more; for I will deliver My flock from their mouths, that they may no longer be food for them.” I love that he calls us His! He is not ashamed of us, though others have been. Verse 15 goes on to say: “I will feed My flock, and I will make them lie down,” says the Lord God. He addresses us next: Verse 17 And as for you, O My flock, thus says the Lord God: ‘Behold, I shall judge between sheep and sheep, between rams and goats. He will come and shepherd us and deal with the shepherds and he will deal amongst us too, so may we be sober and turn to his love and care for ourselves and one another, boundaries of course! In verse 18 He goes on to say what the shepherds have done and the plight that we have entered because of it. Verse 23 says: “I will establish one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them-My servant David. He shall feed them and be their shepherd. Verse 26 says: “I will make them and the places all around My hill a blessing; and I will cause showers to come down in their season; there shall be showers of blessing. He further describes what He will do for us. In verse 30-31 then says: “Thus they shall know that I, the LORD their God, am with them, and they the house of Israel, are My people,” says the Lord GOD.” “You are My flock, the flock of My pasture; you are men, and I am your God,” says the Lord God.

I pray for a repenting of the shepherds and a love restored to the sheep for one another. Now that we know He has seen our plight and has taken it upon Himself to rescue us and shepherd us himself, we can heal and look to what He wants to do in our lives today and tomorrow! I pray He would open your eyes to more wonders in this entire chapter. He knows where you are and what you and I have suffered and He has come and is coming to care for Israel and the entire body of Christ. He is ours and we are His! Remember His promises are Yes and Yes!
